Let my ashes be returned to the moon
Let my ashes be returned to the moon,
and let my bones be burnt in darkness.
Don’t ever more let my footprints
appear on some wild seas.
Don’t let me ever, never again,
be embraced by the pain of this life!
When I’m gone, protect me from the
shadows of night, and from the dead eyes of the past.
Protect me from steppe wolves,
and from flower fields undreamt.
Do not allow a crowd
to touch my name.
Don’t allow the darkness of night
to disquiet you.
Once, you too, will take the path of the moon,
and I’ll be waiting for you.
I’ll give you all the gifts of night,
and we will become one forever.
Because you and I are woven of stars
for this frail word.
But I know we’ll be meeting again
on the airy, divine path.
